Intake Evaluation

An intake evaluation is the first step to begin both psychotherapy and psychiatric treatment. Intake sessions are 60–90 minutes, and will involve a discussion of your symptoms, your history of mental health treatment and any other information that may be helpful in understanding your current situation. At the end of this session, Dr. Lochte will assist you in outlining a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Psychotherapy

Therapy sessions are fifty minutes, occurring once or more per week, recommended by Dr. Lochte for deep and lasting psychological change. Dr. Lochte’s approach focuses on the experience of trapped emotions, incorporating techniques primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic therapy. Medication management can be blended into psychotherapy sessions when appropriate. Circumscribed issues (i.e. panic, phobias) can often be treated in less than 12 sessions, while more complicated issues (i.e. personality structure, attachment issues) may take longer.

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) consists of a series of three-hour sessions where ketamine is administered either orally or by injection. KAP sessions produce a psychadelic experience that is invaluable for deep psychological exploration and healing. In addition, KAP treatment includes shorter sessions focused on preparation and the processing of content following each treatment (integration). Dr. Lochte completed KAP training under Phil Wolfson MD, a pioneer of the KAP model, as well as MAPS training under Annie and Michael Mithoefer.

Medication Management

Medication management visits are typically twenty-minute sessions, with the goal of optimizing your psychiatric medications. Dr. Lochte believes each person has a mind as unique as their fingerprint, making cookie-cutter psychiatric treatments insufficient. Dr. Lochte can utilize all psychiatric medications when appropriate, but has a conservative approach and will regularly recommend therapy in addition to medications to achieve best results.
