Dr. Lochte graduated from Dartmouth College with the highest honors in Neuroscience and received his M.D. from UC San Diego School of Medicine. He completed residency training at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute, where he served as Chief Resident of both psychotherapy and neuromodulation. He currently teaches and works as an attending psychiatrist at the UCLA PHP/IOP and the UCLA Addiction Clinic. He has specialized psychotherapy training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). His researches publications focus primarily on the neuroimaging of the brain’s reward pathways, and he is currently a study therapist for a MAPS/Lykos investigation of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD.

Dr. Lochte strives towards complete treatment rather than symptom management, with a long term goal of minimizing medications in place of psychotherapeutic and behavioral interventions. He is a practitioner of Vipassana meditation, and enjoys reading, yoga, and hiking.
